WEB / PORTFOLIO

Building
vonkerz.com.

My portfolio is also a project I keep working on. I built it to share my IT background and give the software I make a home.

THE IDEA

A place to see
the work in action.

I wanted employers to get a clear picture of my experience, with enough room for the games and experiments I enjoy building. Visitors can try the projects directly, read how they work, or download a tool.

01 / INTERFACE

Making it feel like mine

I developed the workstation concept into an interactive part of the homepage. The screen, keyboard, tower, and cubes each respond differently. I kept the rest of the layout simple so the artwork supports the content.

02 / DEVELOPMENT

Room for the next project

The site uses small JavaScript modules and a shared project catalog. Each tool or game has its own page. That makes it easier to add something new without rebuilding the site around it.

03 / RELEASES

From local build to live site

I manage the domain setup and Cloudflare Pages releases, keeping development files separate from public builds. I check the deployed files against the tested release so the live site matches what was prepared.

04 / REFINEMENT

Checking the small details

Mobile layouts, keyboard controls, reduced motion, error messages, and return links all matter. I revisit these as the site grows, alongside tests for the games and tools.

Where AI fits

I use AI as part of the development process, from exploring an approach to debugging an interaction. I decide the scope, review the result, and work through revisions. This site has involved interface design, content, app integration, testing, hosting, and ongoing maintenance.

A few decisions behind the build
  • Static pages: simple hosting and direct links to each project, with no account needed to explore.
  • Local game saves: the garden stays in the visitor’s browser. There’s no signup or backend to maintain.
  • Lightweight artwork: SVG keeps the workstation sharp at different sizes and lets individual objects respond to input.
  • Progressive enhancement: project links are in the HTML; JavaScript adds filters, previews, and interactions.
